Equipment Improvement

The design of food processing equipment can lead to non-uniform treatment of the product stream due to variations in the velocity and/or temperature of the air passing through the product bed. These issues can usually be solved with relatively minor modifications to the equipment design. The use of CFD allows for the analysis, design, and optimization of potential design changes so that the equipment modifications can be installed with confidence.

Equipment Baseline

Before
Existing flow control devices result in less flow to the outside of the product bed

Equipment Improvement

After
Removal of vanes and addition of a variable resistance device restores flow balance
