Carburizing

A manufacturer was investigating a concept for a new carburizing furnace, and wanted to check probable performance before building a prototype. CFD modeling showed severely uneven flow to each of the three enclosures. A modified wall and cove piece were designed, and some internal flow baffles were modified. Flow uniformity was drastically improved without increasing the pressure drop.
