Development of a Flow Control Device for Changing Operating Conditions
An equipment modification was needed to
provide uniform flow in the indicated plane. The flow distribution in
the duct was influenced by vanes upstream of the model inlet and a flow
damper within the model domain. First, a baseline simulation was
created.

A design was then developed that provided uniform flow regardless of the inlet flow condition or the damper setting. The effectiveness of this design under four different operating conditions is shown below.
