Meet Our Legal Team

Jim Paul, P.E.Co-Founder

Jim Paul, P.E. is a licensed professional engineer in Michigan and California with over 45 years of engineering experience in the field. He co-founded Airflow Sciences Corporation in 1975. Jim has vast knowledge that spans across many industries and has been giving highly effective expert testimony for 42 years. Jim is a strong communicator with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences. He has been a principal project engineer in projects for the utility, cement, sports equipment, automotive, food processing, rail, and chemical industries. Jim has published numerous papers, authored several patents, and presented at professional conferences including ASME, EPRI, PowerGen, SAE, Energy Storage North America, and Advanced Clean Transportation.

Dr. Kevin Linfield, P.Eng.,P.E.Engineering Director

Dr. Kevin Linfield, P.Eng., P.E. is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario and Michigan. He is Engineering Director of Airflow Sciences Corporation and has been providing engineering support on legal matters since 2003. He has overseen and performed hundreds of distinct client projects using CFD (computational fluid dynamics), laboratory models, and field testing. Kevin is experienced in a wide range of industrial projects, including electrostatic precipitators, fabric filter systems, HRSGs and simple cycle systems, gas turbines, flow mixing devices, and transportation for power generation, mining, oil and gas, rail, and other industries. Kevin has published numerous works and presented at MABS, CFDSC, COAL-GEN, ChemShow, and CANCAM conferences.

Dr. Jeff Franklin, P.E.Director of CFD

Dr. Jeff Franklin, P.E. is a registered professional engineer in the state of Michigan. He is Director of CFD at Airflow Sciences Corporation and has over 20 years of experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Jeff has been the lead developer of many complex CFD software tools including Azore, which he successfully transitioned from a research package to a commercial package distributed by Azore Software, LLC. He is an expert at creating software models for industrial processes. His predictive models include many industrial applications, including combustion products, catalysts, chemical equilibrium, slag formation, ammonia injection, cooling towers, heat treatment, particulate loading, drying and evaporation, and NOx formation. Jeff has published several papers related to CFD methodology and presented at ANSYS/FLUENT, PowerGen, and ASM Heat Treating Society.

Brian Dumont, P.E.Engineering Director

Brian Dumont, P.E. is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Michigan and North Carolina. He is an Engineering Director at ASC and has been with the company since September 1996. In this time at ASC, Brian has worked as an engineer or supervisor on hundreds of engineering studies, specializing in industrial pollution control, rail aerodynamics and HVAC systems. Much of his technical work has focused on comparison of various engineering tools and then improving techniques for modeling and field testing. In 2021, Brian received four patents for airflow measurement from a moving locomotive. He has authored numerous industry papers and presentations which compare computational modeling, physical laboratory modeling, and field testing. Brian also enjoys the occasional project in other industries, and has applied his skills to potato chip frying, egg pasteurization, waffle cooking, and hog carcass cooling.
