Happy Holidays from Airflow Sciences
We've had a great year at Airflow Sciences. It's included interesting projects, new additions to our staff, accomplishments by our team, and a CNC router that's helping us expand our capabilities in the ASC Lab. We hope your marble desk game brings you hours of entertainment. View directions for Nine Men's Morris and Peg Solitaire below, as well as a video of the ASC lab making this year's client gift. Thank you for your continued support and we wish you a very happy holiday season!
Nine Men's Morris
Board: Nine markers for each player to be placed/moved on a 24 square board
Goal: Eliminate opponent's markers until only two remain by placing three markers in a row (referred to as a "mill"), or block opponent's markers so no legal move is available. If both players are reduced to three markers, the game ends in a tie after 10 moves without a final piece being eliminated.
Game Play: Players take turns placing their markers on the board. Once the 18 markers have been placed, players must slide along the lines to an available spot that is located one space in any direction, trying to form a mill. When a mill has been formed, the player removes one of their opponents markers (the marker to be removed may not be part of an existing mill unless there are no other opponent markers on the board). When a player has been reduced to only three markers, instead of being restricted to sliding, they can "fly" and move their marker to any free spot on the board.
Peg Solitaire
Board: Triangle board of 15 spots
Goal: Reduce the number of markers on the board to only one
Game Play: Place 14 markers on the board leaving a single spot vacant. Take a marker and jump over a different marker to an empty space, removing the marker that was jumped. Continue until only a single marker remains.
