Wind Tunnel Testing of Rail Cars
In combination with CFD modeling, wind tunnel testing of rail cars provides an excellent tool to obtain data to help design modifications including airfoils, trip strips, or other leading and trailing edge modifications to help reduce aerodynamic drag. Airflow Sciences Corporation maintains its own subsonic wind tunnel (34" x 17" test section) for small aerodynamic analyses, and rents other wind tunnels for larger scale testing.
