Numerical CFD Simulation Provides Rapid Evaluation of Design Alternatives
CFD Simulations were performed of a Nordson-UV ultra-violet (UV) curing lamp used in the printing industry. A high-intensity lamp tube is surrounded by four water-cooled dichroic reflectors. Each plot depicts the relative amount of radiative heat transferred to the air.
These two figures above show the effect of a design change on the UV radiation pattern.
This figure above shows the differences in radiation patterns for UV and infra-red (IR) caused by the dichroic reflectors, which reflect the UV but transmit the IR.
