Exhaust Plume Behavior
Large vehicles, especially diesel engine trains, trucks, and ships, emit exhaust that can be dangerous to vehicle occupants and/or bystanders. The exhaust plume behavior depends on wind conditions, whether the vehicle is at idle or moving, and engine rpm. Airflow Sciences has conducted both CFD analysis and wind tunnel testing for these situations. These results help quantify exhaust flow patterns and concentration of gas components in the vicinity of the vehicle.
