Laboratory Engineer (Full Time)

Airflow Sciences Corporation, Livonia, Michigan, is an engineering consulting company that designs and tests a wide range of fluid dynamic equipment. Analysis and design techniques include Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, experimental laboratory testing, and field measurements at client sites. Our customers hire us to optimize the design and operation of their plants and products. Current clients include energy companies, auto suppliers, pollution control manufacturers, food processing companies, biotechnology firms, and aerodynamic designers. We also leverage our fluid dynamics knowledge to design and manufacture AMCA flow tunnels and wind tunnels for industry and educational use. We have supplied standard wind tunnels, wind tunnels with water spray, and wind/water tunnels for clients over the past five years.

We are seeking experienced (2-7 years) laboratory engineers for a full time salaried position. Ideal candidates will have a degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering along with an interest in fluid dynamics.

Job tasks will include:

  • Mechanical system design for wind tunnels, AMCA flow tunnels and other specialized equipment
  • PLC programming for control system architecture
  • Control and data acquisition component specification
  • Generating instrumentation schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Generating 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams including CFD, design, and manufacturing
  • Travel to client sites for meetings and equipment assembly
  • Reporting and presentation to clients
